and given some of the sport racing cars that have come out recently that are in my collection ‘sweet spot’, you might figure that I’d be jumping at something Italian, (the BBR Ferrari 250 TR 1960 Le Mans winner or the Spark Bizzarrini 5300 GT) or German, (the Cult Models Porsche 718 RSK) Now I’m not saying I won’t get those cars, because I likely will, but my first call had to go to the Matra MS630.

The 1969 Le Mans car is, to my eye, a little ‘cleaner’ and has more pleasing livery than the 1968 addition. That in itself is a bit unusual because cars tend to get more cluttered over time, not less.

The key for me is that it was part of the epic 1969 Le Mans race that was the swan song for the Ford GT and the beginning of the battle between Porsche and Matra for long distance racing dominance in the early 70’s.
