A picture says more than a thousand words. The evidence is right in front of you. Look at the interior detail, the bonnet straps and fasteners, the headlights, the rear view mirror, the screws below the windscreen etc etc.

It's one thing to airbrush a picture to make it look better, it's another thing to take a picture of the real car and make it look like a model. I'm not buying the idea that there was a far superior detailed prototype and they decided to leave off a huge amount of detail on the production model.
