Maistos are pretty decent for kids (and adults) to start their diecast collections with. The detailing is not so "intense" that the model ends up to fragild for very yoing hands to hzdle without breaking anytbing on them. As already mentioned, there are warnings on the box on appropriate ages to give the model to. Just use that as a guide to determine if it is safe to give one to your grandkid....
IIRC, Maisto has a line of model cars that are much simpler in detail and of a smaller scale (1:24 or 1:32 scale) that are ment for younger kids too. I think they sell those in toy stores...
Maistos always had Bugattis and Lamborghinis in their model lines for as far as I can remember. You should be able to find the right one for your grandkid really easy....
