the USPS has a HUGE pension benefits deficit( they are paying out more than they bring in.)..so the losses keep mounting.
The lower petrol pricing is just a temporary respite for them......the whole structure ( internal ) of the USPS must change to make any meaningful headway on this issue..........they had seen the handwriting on the wall for a few decades now, but chose the typical public service sector response....just kick it downstream....knowing it will NOT 'go away'
