quite different to me than similar Ferraris of that era. Looks like they were going more for function than for beauty.

I remember seeing a film in the 90s called "Legendary Sports cars" in which John Surtees said "Ferrari turned down some designs because they didn't look fierce enough". I don't know how I would describe this design.
