one other thing I really dislike in that same area is when the big cylinders used for screwing the model to the shipping base hang down so low that they are easily seen when displaying the model from the side as evident your nose-to-nose photo. The only two solutions I've found are to either file them off or display the model in front of a dark background so they're harder to see. Both solutions have drawbacks. The first one makes repacking the model a problem and dark colored models don't stand out well using the second approach.
