#462880The Miata is a modern interpretation of the classic Lotus Elan, but with Japanese levels of reliability. Was never meant to be fast in a straight line, although the current ND generation (which I own) is quick enough to get you in trouble. At a base price of $29k USD for the soft top, the closest competition is the Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ. A base model V8 Mustang will set you back just under $50k, which is a significant jump in price. And will only get you faster in a straight line, which is a bit different than twisty mountain roads like the Miata was intended for. Honestly, I feel the Miata is underrated if anything, same for the Toyobaru twins. No one seems to appreciate a nimble, fun to drive car on twisty roads anymore...
