a major factor of mine when I buy a model. Another major factor is whether I have some sort of connection with the 1:1 that makes me nostalgic.

Race history of the 1:1 significantly enhances a model's appeal to me but ranks below body design and connection with the 1:1. I won't buy a model of a race car that I find visually unattractive no matter how successful it was on the track. That's why my collection contains almost no modern prototype or open wheel racers.

If I think the car has fantastic body lines I'll sometimes buy one without a livery and one or more in race trim. In other cases I find the version with the race livery more attractive due to the color scheme. When that happens I'll usually pass on the presentation version.
