rallies that allow extreme differences from the production cars they represent. I don't know what modifications the lowest classes of rally cars are permitted to make. The car the Otto Celica in this link is based on doesn't have any extra lights so I assumed it was in a lower class and may not have had the lights fixed.

I think I once saw a photo of a similar 1:1 racing with the lights down. I'll have to search for it to see if my memory was correct.

As far as the street Otto AE86, that model was the same as a movie car but without the graphics used in the film. It often raced at night in the movie so it makes sense that they offered one with the lights up and one with the lights down. They probably sold more models than if they had figured out a cheap way to put pops on that resin model.
