I’m not much of a ‘street’ car collector of my 344 models only 17 are without racing livery. That may be because unlike many collectors, the family ride’ has never been something I got emotionally attached to.
I also never been much of a Detroit muscle car guy or except for the Corvette or much of a Chevy guy.
Which is why it surprises even me that my 345th model is a 1966 Chevelle SS-396.
The reason is my friend Richie bought and restored one. I kid him that no Chevelle ever left the showroom with perfect body panel fit and perfect paint so he can’t really call it a restoration.
Richie was also a ‘hot rod’ guy so he could not stand to put the original skinny wheels and tires on his car and always preferred a ‘nose down’ rake.
My model is a close representation to his real car – and I really like it
