#465490 US tariff update: I just received a shipment from Carmodel
Posted by Craigj35344 on Friday Aug 08, 2025 at 03:47PM
in Italy, and there was no duty of any kind charged on it. It was coded for US Customs as scale model cars, meaning it was tariff free, but it was also in the final leg of transit to the US before midnight on August 6. The latter was important as the latest (illegal) tariffs for goods from the European Union (up to 15% additional) were announced by Drumpf's Presidental Executive Order of July 31. However, the tariffs' effective dates are a) 12:01 AM on August 7 for goods shipped to a buyer, directlyl; b) up to 12:01 AN on October 5 for end sales if the goods where in a US warehouse by 12:01 AM August 7; and c) in either a) or b) the August 7 deadline criteria was met if the goods were in the final method of transit to the US by then. My shipment met this deadline as the goods were in final method of transit, i.e., on an overnight flight to the US which had left Italy on the evening of August 6.

I have a second package coming from CK-Models in Germany in the next few days, well after the August 7 deadline. I'm expecting no tariffs/duties due to it being coded as scale model cars, but time will tell.

Bottome line, there is a good chance that there will be no tariffs/duties based on models having been manufactured in China, or being sold by a European dealer regardless of source of manufacture, as long as the models are properly described and coded as scale model cars.
