I've owned the relatively recent Kyosho release (first photo) and the much older Ertl Limited Edition (second photo). The 1:1 photo is from the Ertl's box art.



I sold both of those models but recently bought back the Ertl because it looked better to me. Neither one looks as good as Solido's in terms of shape but I wasn't yet willing to try to make an Essex Wire car from a Solido. When I did that to do the Elvis Presley Spinout movie car I had to do a full repaint. I couldn’t match Solido's off white paint when trying to cover the putty used to fill the long gap left after removing the street windshield.

When researching the 1:1 I noticed that it always raced with the number 91 and the Essex Wire company name. It also ran decals for sponsors like STP, 76 gasoline, Firestone, Champion, Shell and VHT. The combination of those decals varied by race and sometimes so did their positioning. I did a photo edited mock-up of one of those combinations shown below. I need to look at the 1:1 period photos again to decide which combination looks best to me.
