Interesting background story in your post. I too prefer watching road racing over oval racing though I really enjoy the Indy 500.

I was a car guy before I was driving age and still am. I'm just glad I had a lot of years to enjoy driving before cars started moving towards things like electric power steering that hurts road feel and dropping manual transmissions. From what I'm seeing worse is yet to come.
