You and I are very similar. I started with Car Craft and Cartoon magazines, I built airplane and ship models before moving on to AMT 1/25 models and Revell 1/24 models, then I got into foreign stuff after seeing a red 250LM in the Ferrari dealer in Reno, Nevada and watching the Monaco GP's on Wide World of Sports (I specifically remember them once using the Tijuana Brass recording of Casino Royale to accompany a video of a lap of the course, and watching the video of Bandini's fatal crash in 1967). At the time, the Indy 500 was sooooo long and soooo boring. I moved onto Road & Track and Sports Car Graphic (forerunner of Car & Driver) and it's been foreign stuff ever since, beginning with a my first car, a BMW Isetta 300 cabrio.
