My grandparents built a retirement home not far from the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey where the Hindenburg went down. I would visit them occasionally and sometimes a jet flew over their house at a very low altitude.

When that happened all the items in the dining room china cabinet started shaking and my grandfather would cover his ears and scream from the sound level. I was young then so I actually enjoyed it and laughed when that happened. Also heard a few sonic booms but there were also some quiet blimps.

My grandmother once called the air station to complain about the noise and they said something like "Lady, we were here first". :-)
