| Hi all, My name is John and I live in Maple Ridge BC, (Suburb of Vancouver) with my wonderful wife, 10 month old baby boy, and our 11 year old black lab pit-bull cross. I have been collecting 1:18 cars now for about 10 years. My first car was a blue Mercedes Benz CLK by Anson, and I still have it in a closet somewhere. I like to think of myself as a high-end collector. Focusing mostly on European, and some American street and race cars. I currently have about 60 cars in my collection, but have bought and sold around twice that over the last 10 years. I like to keep only the best of the best on display, and will often sell off cars that I feel do not meet my collections standards. One notable event was about 4 years ago I sold around 50 1:18 cars at a garage sale we were having. I had Maisto Premiere Edition’s, Hot wheels, Anson’s, and a few UT’s. I sold them all for $38 to the first old guy who showed up. He said he was buying them for his grand kids. In retrospect, maybe $1.30 a car was bit low? But hey, he also bought a VCR for $2, so I guess he was a good customer… I am glad we have been given a forum here to share information about what really is a very niche hobby!       "Fat bottom girls"....        This is the only pic of my current 1:1 car I could find.. the true work horse of our family. Here it is enduring a Canadian winter, up in the interior of our province.  |
